Joel Cadbury, Jamie McDonald and Brett Shaw (123 Mixtape), grew up in and around Camden, North London in the 1990s. Forming South as school friends aged 14 and signing to the influential Mo Wax label in 1998. They released their debut album From Here On In in 2001. Their regular collaborations with UNKLE, composing the score to Jonathan Glazer’s debut feature Sexy Beast and featuring on the soundtrack of the early naughties teen drama The OC (Music From The O.C. Mix 1) led to an awareness of South internationally. They toured extensively in the US, Japan, Europe and the UK throughout the naughties including tours with Elbow, The Strokes, The Avalanches, Metric, Cornelius and Margot & The Nuclear So And So's. South went on to to release a further three albums, With the Tides (2003), Adventures in the Underground Journey to the Stars (2006) and You Are Here (2008). In 2021, twenty years after its original release From Here On In was re mastered and re-issued on vinyl along with a companion album From Here on Out, a compilation of unreleased tracks, B Sides, and 4 Track tape demos.
