About
Our Man in the Field broadcasts somewhere between the rolling hills of England and the fading edge of the American dream. Led by British songwriter Alex Ellis, the project has evolved into something far larger than a traditional band — a living musical world built around the fictional late-night station WZR2 Radio Free Silverado, an outlaw frequency transmitting songs, stories and strange signals into the darkness. Blending cinematic songwriting, soulful vocals and road-worn storytelling, the music moves between intimate confession and widescreen atmosphere, drawing listeners into a universe of motel lights, lost highways, faded towns and fleeting human connection. Following appearances at Glastonbury Festival, SXSW and Hyde Park with Neil Young, the band’s third album Silverado was recorded at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios and produced by Guy Fletcher of Dire Straits, featuring contributions from Sonny Landreth, Ethan Johns, Robbie McIntosh and Nick Pini. But the records are only part of the story. Through films, broadcasts, visuals and live performances, WZR2 Radio Free Silverado blurs the line between fiction and reality — less a concept than a place listeners can disappear into.
