About
MoonCats have been keeping the fun alive in North Dakota’s music scene since 2018, bringing all ages together with their fiery blend of originals and singalong favorites. Based in Pick City, this tuned-in trio has played shows across twelve states, toured the country, and even earned spots at top festivals including the Blue Ox Music Festival (WI, 2024), the RockyGrass Band Competition (CO, 2024), and a 3rd place finish at the Desert Bluegrass Festival (AZ, 2025). Their self-produced albums—MoonCats (2018), Hot Tea (2021), and Clowder (2024)—were all recorded in North Dakota, showcasing a mix of rich songwriting and raw roots instrumentation. In 2025, they’ll release their fourth record, Animal Style, fully funded by fans through a $29K Kickstarter campaign. Onstage, MoonCats deliver acoustic roots remedies with stomping rhythms, heartfelt harmonies, and a sound that feels both timeless and alive. Slinger, Danny, and Sky weave banjo, upright bass, guitar, mandolin, washboard, and harmonica into vivid stories of the plains and modern times. With soulful grit and youthful energy, they captivate audiences from festival fields to small-town stages. MoonCats have shared bills with Pert Near Sandstone, Henhouse Prowlers, G. Love & Special Sauce, and more. Their live shows are part barn dance, part back-porch session—an irresistible mix of old-time tradition and fresh new sound
