About
miniaturized writes indie rock about scale — one ordinary person standing at the base of something too large to see the top of. Loud where it needs to be, human on purpose, and always tracked live. The San Diego band came out of a 2021 MusiCares benefit honoring Tom Petty. Guitarist and songwriter Timothy Joseph assembled a lineup for the night, and taking Petty's songs apart in order to play them right sent him back to his own writing with a different set of questions. Thirty songs came out of it, and the one-night lineup became a band. Thirty songs became fourteen. Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Pavement, Wilco) produced them over eight days at Phaser Control Recording Studio, Greg Calbi mastered at Sterling Sound, and the self-titled debut arrived in March 2023 to critical acclaim and an audience that showed up for it. It won Best Indie/Alternative Album at the 2024 San Diego Music Awards, and many stages, shows, and tours with bands like Built to Spill followed. Easter is back behind the board for what comes next. New single "Obsolete" lands October 2 — fast, guitar-forward, tracked live in a single room as a full band, no grid and no fixing, so what you hear is the actual performance. More singles follow from there, building toward a new full-length in 2027.
