Born on November 13, 1946, to Princess Kethy Mbenyo and William Roosevelt, Eko Roosevelt grew into one of Cameroon’s pioneering voices in Makossa and Funky Disco music. Eko first gained recognition with the Dikalo Group before launching a solo career throughout the 1980s and 1990s, releasing acclaimed records such as Kilimandjaro My Home, Funky Disco Music, and the hit single Nalandi. In 2020, he experienced renewed global recognition through his collaboration with Disclosure on a reworked version of Tondoho Mba (originally released in 1982), reaffirming his enduring influence and pioneering role in shaping Makossa and funky disco music far beyond Cameroon.
